Ostara Efnol is a member of CG1, known for her unique magical abilities tied to the lunar phases and her complex past with Elisa the Night Hag. Born under mysterious circumstances and imbued with celestial magic, Ostara has faced numerous challenges in her journey to control her powers and protect those she loves.
Early Life
In fields close to the Farrión Woods lived the Efnol family in their ancestral farm. One starry night, the moon appeared in the sky, gargantuan and bright. As the moonlight shone over the Farrión Woods, a fragment fell from the astral satellite to the earth, close to the farm.
Not even a few hours later, Ostara Efnol was given birth in the same crater the celestial fragment had pierced in the earth. Searching for a new host, the lunar magic imbued in the astral stone found its way in the newly born child. Ever since her birth, Ostara was gifted with strange magical powers that would change as quickly as the moon's phases. However, the child knew she could not control them and feared she might one day hurt her dear family.
Encounter with Elisa the Night Hag
At the age of five, Ostara found her way into the Farrión Woods, where she encountered Elisa the Night Hag. Elisa promised power, control, shelter, and love. Thus, Ostara chose to remain by her side and call her "Mother".
Elisa provided kindness and knowledge, even gifting her sight by taking one of Ostara's eyes and placing her own in the child's socket. If she was to become Elisa's pupil, Ostara had to serve as the hag's left eye. Life with Nova
When Ostara was eight years old, another young girl named Nova, with flashy red hair, joined them. Nova was fierce, and they became close friends. They shared the pain of both losing an eye, as Nova became the hag's right eye. However, Nova never intended to stay willingly with Elisa and Ostara. One day, she escaped.
Ostara knew Nova would forever feel the weight of the hag's gaze on her shoulders. Unable to reconcile her friend's betrayal and her own magical weakness, she continued to remain by Mother Elisa's side.
The Temporal Anomaly
One day, a peculiar phenomenon occurred—a shift in the veil and a temporal anomaly surrounding the Farrión Woods. Elisa needed to know more about this curious magic manifesting around her lair. Traveling through the astral plane and slightly breaching the temporal veil, she sent her left eye, Ostara, to investigate. Ostara was to remain in the peculiar space until her Mother would bring her back. But Elisa never came. Ostara stayed in her newfound shelter, unable to contact her Mother.
At night, however, Ostara can still feel her eye twitch under her left eyelid. In the morning, she sometimes only needs to open one eye before getting out of bed.
Life in Cassea
When she arrived in Cassea with her friends, Ostara decided to develop her skills in alchemy and magic. She joined the Imperial College Cassea and graduated, further channeling her lunar powers and gaining a limited form of control over them. Unable to truly adapt to the bustling life in Cassea, she chose to build her own wooden home in the countryside, a gentle reminder of her old life in the woods.
Hexblood Nature and Challenges
Ostara's hexblood nature and the hag's eye have been sources of discomfort for her, occasionally hearing faint whispers of Elisa's voice or feeling pain coming from her eye. Her connection to Elisa remains, despite the hag's absence.
Encounter with Alternate Nova
More recently, when CG1 was thrown into an alternate timeline version of Astrea, Ostara met that timeline's version of her childhood friend, Nova. Not wanting to lose her again, even though it wasn't 'her' Nova, she chose to ignore the warnings and took Nova home with her.
Nova couldn't exist in the same timeline where 'prime' Nova existed. Faced with difficult choices, Ostara asked her mother for help. Elisa took the opportunity to make a deal with Ostara, taking Nova away so that she could at least live. In return, Elisa took Ostara's other eye and formed a pact with her.
Recent Conflicts
Not long after, while on another mission, Elisa contacted Ostara to take her payment—a child known as the King of the Fairies, a young boy with a remarkable ability to create anything he could imagine. Knowing what Elisa would do to the boy, not wanting to give her the chance to create an underling with that kind of power, Ostara defied her mother. Elisa has now sworn to kill Ostara's friends and take the child anyway. CG1 is now searching for Nova, hoping she can lead them to Elisa to resolve matters without killing her.
Despite the complex relationship with her hag mother, Ostara remains loyal to her, whether by her own choosing or otherwise.
